Sloth eyes are very mobile and they can be partly retracted when eyelids are closed. Their near vision is very poor so they relay on their other senses to find food and make contact with other sloths. Their eyes have a convex cornea and thick lens which means poor discrimination. They also blink frequently but very slowly.
Sloth's eyes are positioned at the front of their faces because they are hunters. This is so they can see what is directly in front of them and so they can focus on their prey. |
